The 6th Class Debating Club recently debated the motion that Irish should be optional. It was a lively debate and there were fantastic arguments made on both sides. In her speech opposing (ie. against) the motion, Nicole referred to a short film about a Chinese boy who decides to move to Ireland. He learns Irish, our native language, in preparation. He arrives in Dublin, with no English but fluent in Irish... and nobody understands him! The film won 18 awards. Watch it here: Yu Ming is Ainm Dom.
