Web Safety Manual

(inspired by Zeeko talk)

By Jem Hortiz & John Corner ] fake names

Introduction

Hello, this article on www.scoilaonghusasenior.ie will be discussing web safety! From your privacy to strangers online, this manual/guide will help you stay safe on the internet!

PART 1: Privacy

  1. Please do not give out your full name, your parent’s credit/debit card information, address and any other private information.

  1. Keep all social media accounts private, however, most video games (example, minecraft, roblox etc…) do not have a private account function, so be sure that you do not talk to strangers.

  1. Do not friend strangers, people with inappropriate words in their username or mutual friends (unless you've met them in real life).

PART 2: The t-shirt rule

1: The idea of the t-shirt rule is that if you can’t wear what you said online on a t-shirt, don’t post it. You wouldn't want your grandma to see it!

2. Make sure to remember “if I can’t wear this on a t-shirt, can I post it?”

3. The last thing is no one wants to see you wearing a t-shirt with profanity on it.

PART 3: Strangers and public chatrooms

1: Do NOT talk to anybody who you don’t know, you don’t trust or you feel uncomfortable with…

2: Though public chatrooms exist, if it is an inappropriate one, do not proceed!

3: If someone you don't know contacts you, block, report and tell an adult.

(even if it is a simple “hello”, be cautious.)

(if it gets out of hand, tell an adult IMMEDIATELY)

PART 4: The finale

Now, you might of learned a lot about web safety from this guide/manual, but, there is 1 more thing you need to learn……
